Allyship Actions
Science-backed behavior-change prompts automatically matched to your team's weakest belonging dimension, delivered where people work.
What Are Allyship Actions?
Allyship actions are short, concrete prompts delivered to employees and managers based on their team's belonging and culture scores. They're drawn from the same library employees use for self-directed allyship commitments. The difference is that HR admins can push them to the whole organization or specific teams.
5 Action Types
Each type serves a different behavioral purpose.
Reflection
Prompts individuals to pause and think about a specific aspect of their work experience. Example: 'Take 2 minutes to think about one moment this week when a colleague felt excluded, and what you could do differently.'
Conversation Starter
Provides a question or topic for team discussions. Designed to open dialogue on dimensions that need attention. Example: 'At your next team meeting, ask: What's one thing that would help everyone feel more included?'
Team Exercise
A structured activity for the whole team. Typically 10–15 minutes. Example: 'Run a Start/Stop/Continue exercise focused on amplifying quieter voices.'
Manager Tip
Targeted advice for managers based on their team's belonging scores. Example: 'Your team's challenger safety score dropped. Consider explicitly inviting dissent in your next all-hands.'
Reading
Links to articles, frameworks, or research relevant to an inclusion dimension. Example: 'Read about Edmondson's psychological safety stages and how they apply to your team.'
6 Action Categories
Actions are also organized by the inclusion behavior they drive.
Amplify
Actions focused on raising the voices and visibility of colleagues who are often overlooked: repeating their ideas, crediting contributions, and creating space.
Include
Actions that make people feel welcome and part of the group: inviting participation, checking in on quieter members, ensuring no one is left out of information flows.
Ask
Curiosity-led actions: asking colleagues about their experience, seeking perspectives that differ from your own, and listening without an agenda.
Sponsor
Actions that use your influence to open doors for others: nominating people for projects, advocating in rooms they're not in, removing gatekeeping.
Bridge
Actions that connect across difference: building relationships outside your immediate group, facilitating introductions, and reducing cross-team friction.
Challenge
Actions that interrupt bias and exclusion: calling out microaggressions, questioning exclusionary norms, and surfacing blind spots in group decisions.
Smart Targeting
Actions are automatically matched to the weakest belonging dimension at team and organization level.
How Targeting Works
Each action is tagged with a culture dimension. ClimaHQ first checks the team's scores to find the weakest dimension. If no team scores exist, it falls back to organization-wide scores. Different teams can receive actions about different dimensions, each one tailored to where they need it most.
Example
If the Engineering team scores low on 'belonging' but the Sales team scores low on 'recognition', each team receives actions tailored to their weakest area. Use the audience picker to target a single team from the action dashboard.
Smart Recommendations
The actions dashboard surfaces recommendations based on your data.
Recommendation Cards
At the top of the page, ClimaHQ shows recommendation cards for teams or dimensions that need attention. Each card shows the weakest score and a one-click 'Send to team' or 'Send to everyone' button.
Audience Targeting
Use the audience picker to deliver actions to specific teams instead of the whole organization. Each user receives one action tailored to their team's weakest dimension.
Action Library
Browse the full library, grouped by culture dimension or action category.
Browse and Filter
Expand the 'Browse action library' section to see all available actions grouped by dimension. Use the filter tabs (All, Active, or Excluded) to find actions by status.
Exclude and Re-include
Click Exclude on any action to remove it from future deliveries. Excluded actions are never sent but remain in the library. To restore one, switch to the Excluded tab and click Include.
Sending Actions
Click 'Send actions' to deliver immediately, with no schedule restrictions. Each user receives one personalized action. Target specific teams using the audience picker, or send to everyone. Preview any action by sending it to yourself from the action detail page.
Delivery Channels
Actions reach people where they already work. Configure channels in Settings > General.
- In-app: Appears in the notification bell and the notifications page.
- Email: A formatted email with the action content.
- Slack: Delivered as a Slack DM with a 'View in ClimaHQ' button.
- Teams: Delivered as a Teams DM with a 'View in ClimaHQ' button.
